1 Dead, 17 Injured After Vehicle Struck a Crowd at Pa. Fundraiser for Families of 10 House Fire Victims


 One person was killed and 17 injured when a car crossed a crowd in Berwick, Pennsylvania, officials said. After the crash, the suspect allegedly fatally assaulted a woman in the neighboring county of Lucerne. 

“The male suspects in both cases are in custody,” said a police officer. His identity is withheld. Police have not released the identities of the two dead or 17 injured who were taken to hospitals in several areas. According to NBC affiliate WBRE-TV, the accident occurred outside the Toxicology Department restaurant around 6:30 p.m. injured. In a Facebook post, the toxicology department, the restaurant where the fundraiser took place, said it would be closed until further notice. Please respect our privacy as we are grieving and trying to process the events that have occurred. Thank you," the restaurant wrote. Police said a car crashed into a crowd last week as they were attending an event in support of victims of a house fire in Neskopec that killed seven adults and three children. Among them were 7 adults and 3 children ages 5, 6 and 7. No word yet on the cause of the crash or the condition of the injured victims at Berwick.
